I studied Biological Sciences at the University of Warwick, graduating in 2015. My final year project supervisor was Dr Andrew Millard, and the project consisted of isolating phage genomes from slurry, and metagenomic sequencing of a sample from the River Thames. The aim was to identify antibiotic resistance genes to investigate bacteriophage as a reservoir of resistance.

Currently I am studying for an MRes in Forensic Science at King’s College London, and my research project involves metagenomic sequencing of forensic samples for intelligence, as well as investigating contamination which may detract from low-level metagenome data. 5
