The Millard Lab

We study bacteriophages — viruses that infect bacteria — using genomics and bioinformatics to understand microbial life and tackle challenges such as antimicrobial resistance.

Our research spans phage genome analysis, viromics, and virus–host interactions, combining high-throughput sequencing with reproducible, open-source computational tools. We are based at the University of Leicester and are part of the Becky Mayer Centre for Phage Research, working closely with clinical and environmental partners and contributing openly to the global phage research community.
